Chapter 1 (continued.continued continued)

The air was cold and murky when I stepped out of my house to meet Devin at the park.  Harriet had already headed back home, with cell phone in hand for if I wanted to give her any details via text message.
I closed the door behind me and was silent as I walked through the concrete driveway. My adrenaline was pumping, I was excited. It was my third date since I was fourteen. The first one with a boy named Alfred Pople, and the second with my brother's friend, Derrick Hartman.  They were both nice boys, but they weren't my type, no, not like Devin.
I first fell in love with him when I dropped my books and-like a gentleman- he picked them up. That seemed to be the gold I was looking for. We chatted once in a while during class, and sometimes after school at the Writing Club. He always wrote stories about a boy meeting a girl and them going on an adventure to anywhere in the world. God, I sound like a stalker.
After the moment of daydreaming about Devin, I came back into reality to realize I was already at the park. "That was fast." I whispered, keeping my head low. The darkness made it hard to navigate my way around the plants and cobblestone. Then, ahead of me, I saw a cluster of lights in the shape of a person.
"Devin?" I called out, slowly taking steps forward. Something could of happened to him, those lights could be flashlights; that were used to beat him up! Or maybe they were-
Damn I'm crazy.
I shook my head, knowing that I was hallucinating again. But he didn't respond. I called him out again, creeping forward until I was standing over the hovering lights. Devin was in the middle of the circle, the lights starting to move over his body and cover it up.
I screamed and backed away. No, this couldn't be happening. I was hallucinating...I had to be! Just as I turned to run off, I felt a tackling pain on my ankle, forcing me to fall to the ground. I looked at my feet to see a few of the lights grip on to my leg. They started to grow and black teeth popped out of nowhere. I screamed again and continued to back up. The pain was growing on my foot, it started to spread to my leg; which was feeling numb.
I started to cry, knowing I was probably going to end up like Devin, dead and being eaten by lights! How is that even possible!?
Just as the pain reached my thigh, I felt pressure under my shoulders and the feeling of being pulled backwards. The lights hissed and hopped off of my leg, hissing as they floating toward me. I screamed and squirmed, trying to break free of the grip. I managed to get out of whatever was holding me and stood up to run away. But the lights were faster.
They caught up to me in no time and tackled me again. I was going to die. I knew it. I was going to die. What was going to be told to people? I could imagine in the newspapers, the headline reading "TWO TEENS KILLED BY GLOWING LIGHTS". Yes, I'm sure people wouldn't get suspicious.
I whipped around to lay on my back, and watched the lights prepare to cling on to me. I closed my eyes and waited for the gut wrenching pain.
All I heard was a slight humming noise and the bright lights were gone. I opened one eye to see a dark figure over me. Even in the darkness I could see a bright white, smiling grin.
"GISELLE!" I heard a voice call. I changed my attention from the figure to see Devin, starting to run toward me. He was alive thank goodness!
I was about to call his name when the figure moved from the front of me to the back and started to pull me. Oh no, I was going to get kidnapped now?!
I wildly looked around, and squirmed again, trying to break free. "DEVIN!" I screamed as i was being pulled. I must of hit my head on the side of a tree or something, because after I called Devin's name again, the world went black.

Chapter 1 (continued.continued)

Me and Harriet were chatting for what felt like hours on what I should wear when we got home.
"I think this pink one is nice." I said, grabbing a light pink summer dress out of my closet and flashing it over my body. I posed a little and Harriet laughed.
"No, I don't like that one...How about that blue one in there? Oh, or that lavender one...That's pretty!" She said, pointing to nearly every dress I had. I giggled and pulled out a silvery, lavender colored cocktail dress, that matched with a pair of see-through, grey floral leggings. Something told me that this dress was perfect; it had to be.
"Defiantly. I am going to wear this one. It's beautiful!" I said, twirling around with the dress on the hanger. Harriet stood up and pursed her lips. She walked over to me and grabbed my hair and stuffed it into a ball with her hand.
"What are you doing?" I asked her wildly. Harriet was keen to doing hairstyles beautifully, and she also known to be unexpected.
Harriet shook her head and let my hair fall. It tickled my shoulders as the bright red slackened at my shoulders. She bit her cheek and stood back, taking a look at my tassled locks.
"PERFECT!" She shouted. I jumped again, grabbing my heart. But instead of a lecture to her about not scaring me, I laughed. We both laughed for some time before I headed into the bathroom to get changed.
When I faced the mirror, I almost screamed. In the mirror was the same girl as my dreams and in the chalkboard. I gulped and prepared to lean forward. When I leaned, she leaned. Soon, we were nose to nose, both pressing against the glass.
"Who are you?" I whispered, stroking the glass gently. She mimicked me. That seemed odd...Oh wait.
It's just my reflection. I laughed at myself, seeming to get a bit too superstitious with these dreams and such.
-
When I finished getting changed, Harriet messed with my hair a little more. Then, she left it as it was the first time, a bit ruffled and laying against my shoulders. She matched my outfit with perfect accessories. As she was about to shove some bright purple lipstick on my lips, the phone rang. I managed to shimmy out of her grip and race to the phone. It must be Devin; he had to have gotten my number from the school yearbook last year.
"Hello?" I asked into the phone. Silence. I curled the wire that was poking from the end of the phone and leaned against the wall. Suddenly, a voice flooded through the phone.
"Help me, please! Giselle-you do not know me, but I know you. You need to help me. Please help me!" The Voice from my dreams screamed into the receiver. I quickly pulled away from the phone and slammed it down on the receiver.
Then, it rang again. Angry this time, and knowing that it was the girl, I grabbed the phone and angrily shouted, "WHO ARE YOU?"
"Giselle...?" Devin whispered into the other end of the line. Relief slid through my body. I giggled to myself, knowing that was another stupid moment.
"Sorry, yes?"
"Are you alright? I was just going to tell you where we should meet."
"Oh, I'm fine. Just some prank callers called me."
"OK. Well-let's meet at the old park down the hill, then we can have dinner-if it's alright with you- at the Cafe, at about 8:00"
'Sure...I'll see you there." I said, curling the phone wire again. I checked my watch, it read 7:15 Just enough time.
"Kay, see you then." And Devin hung up.
I sighed and pressed my back against the wall again. I needed to figure out who this girl was; she was ruining my social life.
I shook the girl out of my mind and headed back upstairs, Harriet would give me some proper final adjustments...and then I would head off!

Chapter 1 (continued)

A tap on my shoulder made me jump. I turned to the side to see a boy, who's name was Devin...and who I had a major crush on.
He whispered something that I couldn't understand, and handed me a note. He smiled and turned back around to face Mr.Howard.
I felt butterflies rush in my stomach. This must be the note I was waiting for...where he would finally ask me out! I grinned as I unfolded the tightly wrapped paper and peered at the scrawled writing.
"This seems childish, but would you like to go out on a date with me tonight?" It read. My cheeks painfully burned as I stared, reading the note over and over again. I would defiantly go out on a date with Devin, it was my dream come true! I scribbled back a response and quickly threw it back at him.
I bit my lip and returned my attention to the board. The girl and the rippling hole was gone. All that remained was the old fashioned chalk board.
It had to be my imagination; since that clearly never happened in reality. Or...did it?
~

The bell rang and I darted from my seat and out the door of the terrible History class. School was finally over for summer vacation, it was a joy. I smiled as the sunlight hit my face and warmed my hair.
"I'm happy too!" My best friend, Harriet said, as she joined me in basking in the sunlight. We both closed our eyes and lied down on the soft grass. We took a moment to enjoy the sunshine before I opened my eyes and looked at the sky. It was a bright blue, with the white clouds floating and moving. The sun was in the corner of my eye, lighting the world up.
But, something caught my eye. A small, blue box was twirling amongst the clouds. Now, how would a box end up in the sky?
"Harriet, what's that?" I asked, shaking her since she had fallen asleep. She stirred and weakly opened her eyes. They widened at the sight of the blue box.
"It's probably just a balloon..." She moaned, relaxing and falling back on to the grass. She was right, it did indeed look like a balloon.
I shrugged my shoulders and stood up, dusting the grass off of the back of my pants. "Let's go now. I've got to get home, I've got a date with Devin tonight!" I cheered, lightly poking her with the toe of my boot. She giggled and stood up, dusting herself off.
"Really? You got a date with Devin? How! When? TELL ME!" She playfully demanded as we headed toward my house.

Chapter 1

"Gizelle Hawkings! Listen up!" A loud voice boomed from my dreams. The large teddy bear was shaking his paw at me, while he melted. It was quite disturbing...and it took me quite some time to realize that It wasn't a Teddy Bear talking; it was Mr. Howard, my History teacher.
My eyes fluttered open. The bright light blinded me so I shut my lids. I honestly didn't get enough sleep last night, i kept having these strange dreams about a girl...with red hair; just falling. She never stopped falling until I woke up. The dreams woke me up each time she reached the bottom of the long hole that she was falling....But the scary thing Is, I don't think that she ever stopped falling.
"Yes?" I muttered, lifting my head and getting a good grip on my desk as I stood up. My eyes were still shut when I faced the teacher. The bright light wasn't the only thing keeping me from opening my eyes.
"Ms.Hawkings, please look at me." Mr.Howard's irritable, mocking voice echoed in my ears.
Finally, I got the nerve to open my eyes, and when I did...It wasn't pretty. Mr.Howard was turning a bright shade of red, his eyes were almost bulging past his glasses, and his hair was on it's end. He looked pretty pissed off.
"Yes, I am now," I said,  and took a gulp. Mr.Howard usually had the worst ways to get back at you for sleeping in class. I really didn't want to face the consequence. Then the words flew out of my mouth. "I couldn't sleep! That's why I'm always sleeping in class! Don't give me detention; please!?"
A thick tension filled minute later, the class erupted in laughter. I felt my face turn a bright shade of pink. How dare they mock me? I was just saying what was on my mind...and they think of it funny?
Mr.Howard's face relaxed and fell back into place. But in my mind, I saw the Cobra putting his collar down.
"You will not have such a bad punishment Giselle. But you shall have a bad one." He said, scowling at me before turning on his heel and going back to the front of the class.
I really hated it when people did that-when they just left you hanging. I felt my own fumes about to burst, when I felt a hand on my shoulder. "Just calm down and sit. You'll be alright." A male voice whispered in my ear. Chills ran down my spine. I whipped around to see no one there. Now, that was more scarier than the face of an angry history teacher.
I stared wide eyed at the board as I sat down. It seemed to be the only thing I could stare at that didn't have a mocking face.
Then, the board started to wobble. It looked like a ripple in water! My eyes flashed over to Mr.Howard and everyone else's. They weren't looking as worried as I at the board, they were just mumbling and grumbling to the teacher.
I clenched my fists as the board ripple to reveal a slim, pale...and red headed face. It couldn't be...the girl from my dreams? I leaned in a bit closer to see her hair start to fly upward and her eyes look around in slow motion. Her arms went upwards and started flailing. I watched her mouth two, familiar words.
"Help.Me."
